With so many CCTV systems available out there, how do you ensure you make the right decision? Home User kits which can be obtained from most DIY and electrical stores fall short on the quality aspect of the camera. If your recordings are not of high enough quality (e.g. the cameras TVL value is too low) the evidence wont be usable in court to prosecute.

Do not compromise on Quality! The majority of installed CCTV systems do not fulfil technical nor legal requirements, to ever produce acceptable court evidence. Even with entry level system we strongly recommend to keep to the following quick guidelines, in order to prevent your system from merely being an expensive deterrent:
  • CCD (Not IP) Security Cameras should be High Resolution = 520 TVL (Tele Vision Lines) or higher. We recommend at least one camera be positioned to capture Primary Evidence at a high resolution. Lower TVL cameras can be used to show Secondary Evidence, or what is going on.
  • DVR (Digital Video Recorder) should incorporate Full D1 (around 750 X 520) Recording Resolution DVD Quality
  • CCTV Operation Warning Signs used, have to very specifically declare the recording purpose. This is not a legal requirement for Home Installations, although we advise that you display appropiate signage as an extra deterrent.
  • Typical Housed CCTV are usually day camera quality only. So at night, what is being recorded? We advise that you use the latest InfraRed capable Cameras or our true Day-Night systems which need only a small light source to produce full colour night images.
All our systems are quoted on customer requirements and with our knowledge we can position the cameras accordingly. We comply with the Data Protection Act and local ACPO (Association of Chief Police Officers) guidelines.
