The objectives of the Foundation were agreed upon at our very first meeting on December 1st 2005, and the basic principles and the structure of the organization were put into place.

The Phoenix Childrens Foundation was established as a registered UK charity in 2006 to raise monies to provide disabled and severely ill children throughout the UK with vital equipment and/or therapeutic activities. The aim is to help these special needs children with their physical and mental development in order to enhance the quality of their lives.

The charity relies entirely on the generosity of the general public for its funding. One of the policies of the charity is to endeavour where possible to allocate funding to support the disabled and severely ill children in the area in which it is raised.

One of the organisations we support is Riding for the Disabled. Riding provides disabled children with a feeling of freedom and independence, which is something we all take for granted. It also helps many children with their coordination and builds up their strength. We support many RDA groups either with equipment or funding for children to have riding lessons.

The charity has a number of miniature Shetland ponies, primarily used as petting ponies for disabled and sick children when visiting children’s hospices and special needs centres.  These tiny ponies are adored by both children and adults alike and bring joy to everyone who comes into contact with them: they help us enormously in our local fund raising efforts.

As a charity, we also offer a Sponsor a Pony scheme. The main purpose of the scheme is to raise extra funds to be used towards the upkeep of the ponies to include hoof trimming, vaccinations, worming, provision of rugs etc. The cost to sponsor a pony is a minimum of £5.00 per month, for which you will receive a quarterly newsletter, Birthday and Christmas Cards.  A photograph of your chosen pony will be sent to you upon completion of your registration form.

We thank you for your interest in our organization and hope you enjoy reading about the children and families you have helped.
